Age - 39 Born March 17, 1960 in Riverside California now in Palm Springs, Ca.

Education - 1974 to 1978 Poly High School Riverside Ca. Jazz Ensemble and Orchestra as well as school theater productions and private lessons with Seymour Cook and George Stanley. 1978 to 1980 Riverside City College Day Jazz Ensemble, Night Jazz Ensemble with Roger Rickson as Director, as well as Concert Wind Ensemble and Jazz Improv Combos. Associate of Arts Degree with Great Distinction, Music Major. Studies at the Stan Kenton Jazz Clinics in Sacramento California as well as arranging courses at Berklee (Boston) Music Correspondence Classes.Private Lessons with George Stanley. 1981 to 1983 Cal State University at Los Angeles Music Major. "A" Day Jazz Ensemble (Robert Curnow Director),Berkeley (California) Jazz Festival victories with Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, Concert Band, private studies and lessons with John Schiavo of the L.A. Philharmonic.

Musical Experience - 1972 to 1978 played with Jr. High and High School jazz ensembles, orchestras and concert bands. Performed in the Riverside Unified School District All City Orchestra. Performed with several community musical theater productions such as Oliver, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Anything Goes. Worked freelance casuals and private parties. 1978 played with the California Music Educators Association All State Honor Jazz Ensemble at the San Diego CMEA Convention. Was selected to play in the All State Honor Jazz Band which performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival. Performed with the Stan Kenton Clinics #1 band under the direction of Hank Levi featuring Chad Wackerman and Danny House.

1979 to 1983 played with the Riverside City College and California State University at Los Angeles Jazz Ensembles, Concert Bands, and Combos. Played in many festival competions such as Berkeley ( Calif.), Long Beach State, Chaffey College, and the Playboy Jazz Festival. Casual and some jingle recording work as well as theater shows.

1984 to present played with many acts in the Southern California and around the country such as Frankie Avalon, The Smothers Brothers, Tommy Tune, Jerry Vail, The Ink Spots, The Radio City Rocketts, Phyllis Diller, Bobby Vinton, Susan Anton, Debbie Gibson, Mac Davis, Bob Hope, Bob Crosby, Vic Damone, Frankie Randall, Charlie Pride, The Mills Brothers, Dick Contino, and George Burns. Have performed for 4 Presidents of the United States , Gerald Ford, Ronald Regan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton, at special events. Received a runner up award in the Billboard Song Contest for original Jazz Composition category for the song Up Scale Move.

1997 and Future working Broadway Style Shows, recording, concerts writting additional bass instruction books such as the Bach Electric Bass. Currently playing original tunes with Scotlicks Fusion Band with Scott Smith, Glen Myerscough, and Ron Dunn Jones as well as recording with The Ted Herman Orchestra for Herb Jeffries CD.

Theater Experience - Have played bass on over 50 Broadway style musical theater productions and tours such as Evita, The Wiz, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Brigidoon, The Sound of Music, The Scarlet Letter, 42nd Street, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, Best Little Whore House in Texas,The Secret Garden, The Will Roger Follies, Jesus Christ Super Star, Hair, Grand Hotel, Crazy For You, Eating Raoul, Little Shop Of Horrors, Hello Dolly, The Mikado, Nunsense, Annie Get your Gun, Guys And Dolls and many others!

Recordings - Have performed on my own original release Summit Approach as well as on 3 Klavier Records CD's entitled Conducting In The Stan Kenton Style, Bermuda Triangle, and Somewhere In A Dream. These above mentioned recordings feature the bass playing and BMI compositions of Jeff Stover. Also CD's with The Sunny Siders (Formerly The Pied Pipers), String Of Pearls, The Ted Herman Orchestra, Beryl Davis, Mike Costley, Jody Fisher and John Shipley.

Publications - Have written the Bass Players Book Volumes 1 and 2 bass method instruction books for the electric and acoustic bass. Currently being published by Stover Engineering and in distribution throughout the United States. To order or get more information about book E-Mail.
